Mermaids, Update and Design Team

Hello Dear Friends,

I know I’ve been away for a few days.  As I mentioned in one of my Vlogs we are have planned a little time away the hubby and I and it’s much needed.  So this week we have been working a ton to get things wrapped up to be able to enjoy our get away.  I was hoping to have time to do a little Vlog but as time just has been speeding away from me I couldn’t get it done.

So I wanted to just catch you all up to speed on whats going on and things to look for in the next couple weeks.

First and foremost we have our last week for the Empowered Creative Woman Workshop this week.  The workshop will stay open for 2 additional weeks for those who have signed up to have a chance to complete the workshop.  So it will stay open through August 24, 2017.  If you want to check it out you can see the post about it on my welcome/ home page that will take you to the blog post with all the details.

So if you follow me on Instagram, then you saw that I was dying Mermaid Ribbon, just love that teal – blue – green color it’s sooo deep and luscious!  We I decided to dye a few other colors as well and you can see my final product below all wound on tags and ready for use!

So what was all that Mermaid ribbon for???

Well I had a custom order for some Mermaid Tags and here you can see them all completed with their ribbons ready to go to their new home.

Here are few close ups

They were so popular that I decided to make them a digital download in my Etsy Shop.  There is a limited quantity of them so if you want them, you better grab them quick before they are gone.  You can purchase them Here

Today is my turn up on the Roben-Marie Smith Blog for a Design Team tutorial that you should definitely check out here is the link and a sneak peek below of the inspiration journal we will be creating in the tutorial.

Hope all of you have an amazing weekend and week, I will be taking a much needed break next week.  You can find some pics probably on Instagram of our little get away but for the most part I will be offline.

One of my fabulous followers and friends on here asked for a pic of me with my husband so here are a couple pics of us and who I will be sharing my downtime with this next week.  The first pic is of us earlier this year at Belhurst Castle in the Fingerlakes, we stayed there for a little get away this spring it’s pretty close to us about 45 min to an hour away.  The second pic was this summer at a near by winery and bistro they have a beautiful out door sitting area and it’s a beautiful place to have lunch in the summer.

Talk to you all soon !!

Iced Mochas, Pugs & Art Journaling

Good Morning beautiful souls,

What a gorgeous morning we have today!  Lots of sunshine even though the air is a bit crisp for me.  I’m a summer girl and I love it HOT!  Yup the kinda hot that makes you feel like you can’t breath (lol).  I never said I wasn’t crazy haha!

I hope all of you had a nice weekend.  I allowed myself some much needed down time and spent some time outside in the sun with my husband and our 3 pugs.  Things have been moving just way too fast for me lately that I felt I really needed a pause.  It seems like in the creative world it goes in waves during those busy times I can easily spend entire days and evenings in my art studio without even realizing it.  This can be the downside of working at home.  So I try to stay present and in the moment and remember to take a break and to enjoy life and all the things around me.  So this weekend that’s just what I did.

We enjoy having our morning coffee on our back deck and I have to say that the pugs love it too.  As you can see here they are spoiled with blankets and beds and are quite comfortable as you can see 🙂

I mentioned last week how much I love to go to our local Farmer’s Market.  And one of my great loves is cooking.  As much as cooking is work it clears my mind, relaxes me and just makes me feel good!  I especially love to make things from scratch and this weekend after purchasing some juicy peaches from the Market, I made this peach pie from scratch.

While making this pie it brought back a bittersweet memory of past years when I would bake peach pies with peaches I bought from the Market.  I would always bake 2, one for us and one for my parents.  I would stop over unannounced to my mom and dad’s house and bring the fresh pie and sometimes a small thing of vanilla ice-cream.  Every time my dad would say “a peach pie, I haven’t had one of those in years”, so happy to have the fresh baked pie (my mom had dementia and wasn’t cooking anymore at this point).  Even though I had just made one for them the year before lol, I think it was his way of keeping me coming back each year with one :).  It’s been just a little over a year since I lost my dad and those memories creep up quite often into my mind, and I know he’s smiling down wishing he had could have a piece of that peach pie.

What Seems to us as bitter trials are often Blessings in disguise – Oscar Wilde

Because I do love to cook I tend to come up with my own little recipes for special things that I make for my husband and myself.  One of my favorites is my homemade Iced Mochas.  Being a huge coffee lover I came up with my version to make at home.  I will share my simple recipe with you as you might love coffee as much as I do and therefore would need this recipe. 🙂

This recipe makes a serving for 2 or 2 -16 ounce drinks (so could be for 4 if you split into 8 ounce cups each)

  •  2 Starbucks Via Instant coffee packets in the dark Italian roast (you can use another brand or different roast – this is what I drink at home so I have it on hand
  • 1/2 teaspoon unsweetened dark cocoa powder -I get mine from the Farmers Market
  • 5 teaspoons German Rock Sugar – I get mine at Teavana you can use what you have on hand
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Then you want to boil some water in a pot or tea kettle – I usually add about 1-1/2 cups of boiling water to the above ingredients.  Stir and be sure that the sugar is all dissolved before moving on to the next step.

I use 2 glasses that hold 16 ounces of liquid each and to them I add ice and about 1/2 cup liquid non dairy creamer (I use Cremora) you could use milk or almond or rice milk.

Now add half of your hot mix to each of the cups – stir and enjoy!

These are delicious treat on a warm summer day and I have to say that my husband loves them!! 🙂

Saturday evening it started to rain and was a bit cool outside so I settled in my studio with my art journal and my music playing to do a little creating.  As the music played a song came on that caused me to stop what I was doing and just listen.  Not because it was a new song or something I didn’t know but because it had been a song that I have listened to many times this year and thought on so many occasions that this is my Mantra this year.  The song is called Catch My Breath by Kelly Clarkson and I will share a link to the song here.  The words just speak to me on so many levels and so when I finished working on the girl in my art journal I decided to add some of the lyrics to my page from this song.

The song talks about her finally loving herself for who she is (addicted to the love I found).  She goes on to talk about how she won’t live her life how others expect her to but that she will do things her own way …. there is probably more meaning to it than that but that’s my condensed version.  It is just such a powerful and empowering song to me!

which brings me to remind all of you that we still have the Empowered Creative Woman free online class going on.  My 2 classes have already been posted and you can find them starting here on my blog.

Leslie Ackman’s class for last week has already posted and you can find that here.  This is also where you will find this weeks class that will be posted on Thursday 8/10/17.

Before I go I have something that I came across awhile back and wanted to share with all of you.  This video speaks for itself, it’s only like 2 minutes long so I ask all of you to just watch it.  If you are a creative like me it will speak to you I promise it’s worth the watch!!

Thanks so much friends for sharing your time with me this week, may you have a fabulous week full of peace and happiness!! xxoo – Sherry

Welcoming in the New …..

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens –  Leanne Womack

Good Morning Dear Friends,

As I sit here writing to you all today I am filled with so many emotions.

Today marks a big day for me in my “creative career”.  Today is my last tutorial for the Jessica Sporn Design Team.  WOW – when this Journey started last year it felt like I had so much time.  So much time to be able to create tons of projects to showcase Jessica’s beautiful stamps and stencils and to be a part of her amazing team with all of the other amazing artists.  As I sit here typing today I can’t believe it’s over.  One year gone in a flash.  I guess that is how life goes, but wow!

Reflecting on the past year has (well to be honest brought tears to my eyes).  Being offered a spot on Jessica’s team has opened so many doors for me but more than that it has allowed me to create friendships.  One in particular that I will forever be grateful for and that’s the friendship of my sweet friend Karen Gaunt.  She has been there for me so many times through this past year and all I can say is that personally it’s been a rough year for me (sheesh this going on 2 in a row lol).  But seriously had Jessica not given me the chance, believed in me I’m not sure where I would be right now.  So I am sending out a HUGE heartfelt thank you to Jessica, please be sure to stop by and check out her site here .

Here is a link to one of my favorite tutorials that I created for one of the blog hops while I was on the team.

So very ironic that I also have some NEW exciting news to share on this same day…..

I have been selected to be a part of the Tiare Smith Designs Creative Team.  If you don’t know Tiare Smith here is a link to her website so you can check her out.  I know that you are all going to love her as much as I do.  Her work is beautiful first and foremost, but beyond her amazing artistic talent she is fun, and funny and REAL!  I met her in the online collaborative class that we both are teaching in:  Hacking the Colorwheel .

It’s an honor to be a part of her new team and I’m excited for this new adventure and journey that I’m about to embark on, with her and the other Team Members!

And one more very important thing before I go.  I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU and SHOUT OUT to all of you as well.  If it wasn’t for all of you amazing beautiful souls I would not be where I am today.  You all lift me up and push me forward with your loving comments, your encouragement, and by taking the time to connect with me.  Each one of you is in my heart and I am so glad that you have chose to share your time with me and join me in this journey of life!

Have an amazing day my dear friends xxoo – Sherry
