Making Embellishments out of your scraps

Hi everyone, today I’m showing you all how I use up some of my scraps of paper that I have laying around. If you’re like me it’s hard to part with those small pieces that are really still good and big enough to use. So what happens to me is I end up with a big bowl of them. Yes I keep them in this decorative bowl on my table easily accessible to grab and use up.

So I took some of my favorite washi tape and started to cover some of the scrap prices I had

When you are finished put out some punches or your die cutting machine and punch or cut out some of your favorite shapes.

For these I used my big shot and some Tim Holtz dies

And here I used some old creative memories punches that I have.

I love this idea because now I have all these fun elements ready to be added to my art journal pages or my art cards. You can also use them on a canvas or on a scrapbook page as well. Or even to decorate a hand made card or the outside envelope or even to decorate a gift package. Since it’s almost back to school time kids could use them to decorate their notebooks or folders the possibilities are endless so what are you waiting for grab your scraps and washi tape and have some fun. Thanks for stopping by your comments and likes are always beyond appreciated ❤️ have a fabulous day !!

Art Cards/ATCs what do you do with them ….

Well honestly the possibilities are endless but this is what I did with some of mine. I started out using various gelli prints to create them

Then I took a canvas taped around the edges and painted it with a couple colors using an old piece of cardboard to just scrape the paint on and around.

When creating my cards I added additional stenciling, stamping, coloring and some ribbon and some cut out stamped items. Just lots of various things that I had around in my stash that I  wanted to add to them.

To make them a bit stronger I added a piece of chip board to the back of each. Then adhered then to my canvas with E6000 glue.

I had originally thought that I would leave the outline around the canvas white but once removing the tape I didn’t like it so I went back in with some paint and stencils and made a random border. I love how it turned out and I have this hanging in my art studio at home. Lots of positive affirmations and inspiration.

What do you do with your art cards ?  Would love to hear from all of you. Leave a comment if you have time. And have the most wonderful and inspiring Monday ❤️

Art Tags with whimsical houses

Hi Friends sorry for not getting this post out earlier today, thinga have been a bit hectic. For those who follow my IG and FB my pug Pooh Bear is going to be ok. And thankfully not need surgery. Thank you all for your prayers, positive thoughts , hugs and well wishes, they worked ❤️❤️❤️

The other day I started these tags by using up some left over paint I had on my foam brushes. There was very little paint on them and so gave a fun and painterly look. To achieve this look your foam brushes need to be quite dry and as I mentioned above very little paint on them. Just swipe your foam brush in various directions until you are happy with the results.

Next I took my StencilGirl stencil, designed by Mary Nasser called: Geometric Sky and on a piece of deli paper painted the stencil with the same 3 colors used above

Here is the deli paper with the stencil still on it

And once I removed the stencil below you can see all the great triangles it made

Just perfect for creating whimsical houses. I just started by cutting out some of the triangles and then deciding which ones I wanted to use

The above photo shows all my little houses glued on. At that point I knew I wanted to add some fun doodles to them. I recently splurged and ordered a set of Krink k-42 permanent paint markers, and I have to say I’m already in love with them. Fantastic coverage and no skipping. Excellent flow. I wish I had bought them before now as I’ve spent so much money on other paint pens that I have not been happy with.

Next I took a set of my Dylusions border stamps and stamped the edges of the tag and took my paint makers and added some additional doodles (dots) to the border.  I have my thumb on the boarder stamp that I used.

I stamped some sentiments on some white copy paper then cut them out and glued them on my tags.

The final step was to add some ribbon. I often like to use fabric scraps instead of ribbon because I can rip it and it gives it a more Gypsy or Boho look I think. Here are the fabric pieces I selected from my stash

And the tags are finished. I think I will use a couple of these in my art journal / planner and maybe keep one as a book mark. Thanks so much for letting me share with all of you today. If you have time to leave me a comment it would mean the world to me. Wishing all of you the most fabulous evening 💕💕💕

Making a statement with white space in an art journal page

Hi friends today I share with you an art journal page that I created with the intent on keeping lots of white space on it. This is an extremely challenging thing for me to do as I am one who feels most comfortable with covering the entire page with paints, marks inks and more. I am using of course a couple StencilGirl stencils as well as some fun unique mark making with some of my favorite tools. So grab your coffee and let’s crest white space together.

This is how my page started out it was a page I cleaned my brush off on after one of my previous art journal pages. Since it already had plenty of paint I didn’t add any at this point as the goal is to keep white space.

So I grabbed the following 2 stencils.  The fist one is by Jessica Sporn Designs

And this one by Margaret Applin

I layer the 2 stencil first the leaves and then the heart over it on my page

I choose my color of paint I used a magenta and an orange mixed to get a nice red / pink color.

I then added a small red heart in the same color and with my liner pen and some black fluid acrylic paint drew some lines around my hearts

Wrote the word love on the smaller heart and then used my left over paint to splatter some black dots around the page.

I added a hint of pink from a Dylusions spray bottle by spritz in ha baby wipe and just wiping it on my page in strategic spots. (by that I mean where I wanted it lol).

I took some orange paint and the bottoms of my sponge brush to add some dots

And the last bit I decided to add some script across the hearts with the same stencil that he hearts were on that I used earlier. I first stenciled in white then added some magenta over it to make it stand out a little better

I have found that how we challenging leaving white space is the pages actually get completed a lot faster 🙂

Thanks for letting me share this with all of your and always your comment and likes are a blessing.  If you have the time, please leave me a comment I value them all. Have the most fabulous evening friends ❤️❤️❤️
